Go Succeed: Is Business Right For Me Session

Come along to a relaxed session where you can chat about what it really means to work for yourself.

About the event

Is business right for youYou’ll hear from an entrepreneur who's been there, get practical advice and discover the support available to help you take those first steps toward self-employment.

Have you ever wished you could work for yourself?

Thought about what it might be like to be your own boss?

What if you could turn your side hustle into your full or part time gig?

Starting a business or becoming self-employed can be scary. From how to figure out what you’re selling and who’s going to buy it, to understanding the rules for registering as self-employed or knowing what you need to do to set up a business, for many people turning their dream into a reality seems impossible.

Not anymore!

In our Go Succeed: Is Business Right For Me Sessions you’ll hear from an entrepreneur who has been in your position and taken the leap. We’re looking for people who aren’t currently working and who don’t get work-related benefits like Job Seekers, Working Tax Credits etc…

Are you a home-maker, retiree, carer, long term sick/disabled or maybe a student not currently working (among other groups)?

Join us for an informal session which will give you the lowdown on everything you need to consider to ask “Is Business Right For Me”?

In this session we will help you:

●      Learn how to start your self employment journey

●      Find out what practical things you need to know about registering a business

●      Discover what support is out there to help you start a business

●      Learn what costs may be involved in starting your business

●      Begin the process of bringing your idea to life or learn how to identify the kind of business you want

●      Hear from an entrepreneur who will answer your questions and give you an honest account of their journey into business

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have an idea you want to explore or you just like the sound of thinking about how you could take control of your own future, then come along and meet like-minded people in a relaxed, casual and informal setting.

You’ll also get to hear about the Go Succeed: Get Started In Business Programme and how you can apply for up to 10 hours mentoring and a financial assistant package.

Sign up today to start your self-employment or business journey!

Who is eligible to take part?

Economically inactive people are those who are not currently in work and not actively looking for a job. This can include people who are long-term sick or disabled, carers, parents without access to childcare, students, or those recovering from illness.

It can also include people who have stepped back from work due to confidence, transport, or digital barriers, as well as early retirees or those waiting for a change in circumstances before returning to employment.

The term also covers those caring for family members, managing long-term health conditions, studying full time, or taking time out for personal reasons. Many people in this group want to contribute but face barriers that make traditional employment difficult.

Typically, economically inactive people may or may not be in receipt of benefits but are considered outside the active labour market.
