Gigabit Voucher Scheme

Small businesses and local communities can get Gigabit vouchers to contribute to the installation cost of a gigabit capable connection

Did you know the UK Government is committed to a vision of a full fibre Britain? These broadband connections offer the fastest and most reliable speeds available.

How much is available?

Fibre broadband connections offer the fastest and most reliable speeds available.

Small businesses and local communities can get Gigabit vouchers to contribute towards the installation cost of a gigabit-capable connection. Businesses can claim up to £2500 against the cost of connection, while residents can benefit from the scheme with a voucher worth £500 as part of a group project.

After 7 January 2019 the ratio of businesses to residents increased so that for every one business in a group scheme, up to a maximum of ten residents can apply for vouchers worth £500 each. Full details are available in the updated guidance documents and terms and conditions in the Local Body Library.

Better Broadband Scheme

You may also be aware that the Better Broadband Scheme is being extended to 31st December 2019, to provide a subsidised basic broadband service available to customers who cannot access broadband speeds above 2 Mb/s and where state-aid funded solutions are not planned in the next 12 months.

The scheme has been temporarily paused until the end of the month for upgrade work. Please can you ensure your own marketing materials reflect this change and for any queries about Better Broadband Voucher Scheme please email better.broadband@culture.gov.uk.
